Bamboo spoon for dairy and dessert packaging
Plant2Plast has developed an innovative 2-piece bamboo spoon, specifically designed for use in yoghurt and dessert lids. The spoon was created in collaboration with leading Nordic dairies and offers a practical, sustainable, and consumer-friendly alternative to the previous plastic disposable spoons and the much-criticized short wooden spoons.
The bamboo spoon has been developed with a focus on functionality, material selection, and industrial handling.
Designed for modern dairy and retail packaging
Made from bamboo – a fast-growing, renewable, and untreated natural material. This ensures that the bamboo spoon complies with the European requirements of the Single-Use Plastics Directive (SUP-D).
Taste and odor neutrality
The bamboo spoon ensures an undisturbed taste experience. Whereas traditional wooden spoons can often release flavor or feel sticky on the tongue, bamboo provides a neutral and pleasant alternative that does not affect the taste of the product.
“Open design” handle
The handle features an open and symmetrical design, making the spoon easy to handle in fully automated production lines. The design also provides slight flexibility in the handle, ensuring a firm grip around the spoon head. This prevents cracking in the handle and avoids loose spoon heads.
Optimized fit
The two spoon parts stack with a total thickness of approximately 5 mm, making them compatible with standard chambers in existing yoghurt lids – without the need for changes in packaging production.
Flexible spoon head
The spoon head can be adapted to different shapes – flat, curved, or traditional spoon design – depending on product type and consumer preference.
